Description
The facade of the "Haus zum Ritter" in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, features one of the most important Renaissance frescoes north of the Alps. The original frescoes were painted from 1568 to 1570 by Tobias Stimmer and were taken off the facade in 1935, preserved and displayed in the Museum zu Allerheiligen. The mural depicts and praises the civil virtues.
At the house "Zum Ritter" is now a "re-creation" of Stimmer's mural, which was 1937-39 made by Carl Roesch based on the original remains of the old fresco.
