Description
This house at the brook was a "Haremakerij" in the Netherlands back in the 18th century !
For pressing oil from different seeds were used press mats, called Hair" These mats have been folders whose insides were made of braided cow or horse hair. The exterior was made of leather.
The house attached to the workshop dates from 1743. The lower part of the building used to be the workshop, in which the 'hairs' for the oil-mills were made. The Haremaker family, named after the occupation, used to live in the house.
