Description
The Clock Bell Tower (Zytglogge Turm) in Switzerlands capital Bern, is one of the town's landmarks and very popular by tourists, especially when the clock movement announces a new hour !
Today's movement and the bells are from 1530
Just four minutes before the hour a rooster crows and a fool seated in a niche is ringing two bells hanging over him, and then a parade of armed bears appears out of the tower and disappears in it again. Then the cock crows for the second time and raises the wings. The bearded Chronos, god of time, turns an hourglass, raises his scepter to the command of the hour beat and counts the beats, which the gilded Knight, called Hans Thann, which is wearing a tower helmet, beats in time using a hammer to the big bell, while a standing lion rotates his head like being listening. As soon as the hour bell is silent, the rooster crows the third time and announces the beginning of the new hour. - wiki -
